Business Development Manager - Bioprocessing (m/w/d)

The Business Development Manager will support and grow our bioprocess chromatography resins business within Germany and Europe with a focus on emerging biotechs. As a subject matter expert, they will build relationships, collaborations and utilise our jetted resin portfolio to develop robust scalable purification processes, helping our customers get life changing therapeutics through clinic to market.

What you will do
  • As a subject matter expert for Purolite chromatography resins, support a rapidly growing client base with product and application knowledge.
  • Engage biotech companies, particularly in emerging markets, to develop and maintain strong business relationships and collaborations.
  • Comprehensive support of Purolite bioprocess customers from process development to full scale manufacture. Provide and present product, technical and application training.
  • Responding quickly to address customer questions, troubleshooting chromatography steps and co-ordinating the services of the field application specialist to supply hands on support for PD, process optimisation, scale-up and column packing
  • Understand downstream challenges and highlight unique benefits of jetted agarose chromatography resins and how they can improve productivity, economy and sustainability for customer purification processes.
  • Adapt to market trends, take part in voice of the customer programs and provide timely feedback to internal stakeholders. Identify specific needs and support the development of sales tools and strategies.
  • Champion new product introductions, drive and support the implementation of Purolite chromatography resins, delivering value to our customer's clinical pipeline of biotherapeutics.
  • Accountable to the Business Development Modality. Work closely with the regional sales managers and field application team to deliver resin business against annual targets. Share best practice and facilitate communication to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with Research & Development, application teams, product management and marketing to develop sales support, application and training material. Be pro-active in supporting and educating customers and new employees, attending and presenting at conferences and professional trade shows.

What you will need
  • BSc Degree in Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of the Biopharmaceutical / Biotech Industry and strong, working knowledge of chromatography plus hands on experience in protein purification.
  • Experience of monoclonal antibody purifications/platforms including the use of protein A, IEX, HIC and MM techniques with an understanding of PD-manufacturing in a GMP environment would be beneficial.
  • Progressively responsible post-bachelor's experience with a strong chromatography focus. An understanding of Field Application or Technical Specialist accountability would be preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills - attention to detail, with the ability to communicate issues and propose solutions to both external customers and internal team members.
  • Customer centric mentality and thrives in team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively using local language
  • Willingness to travel within geographic region as well as to periodic sales meetings and tradeshows.
  • This position requires the use of owned/leased, privately owned/leased or rental vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record.
